Dr. Marta Vivar from Spain proposed a new concept of a hybrid solar photovoltaic (PV)-photochemical system to disinfect water. The system integrates PV solar cells and solar natural UV disinfection by using UV and far infrared red light. The PV cells also generate electricity to power the pump that circulates water through the system.
